how-to · A machine Open this in the console

Put a machine in a site.

Work › actions, identity. Groups sit under tags. A machine with no group stays in Onboarding until you save one.

A path you type and confirm is added even when no other machine has it yet. Ticking a path that already exists uses that one.
01

Groups start empty

Open Spare laptop, then work › actions, and open identity. Groups is the box under tags. The placeholder says find or pick a group. Spare laptop has none, which is why Fleet pins it under Onboarding. Accounts server is already in site/Melbourne, so that path is in the list.

Pick site / Melbourne

Open the list and pick site / Melbourne. A chip says site › Melbourne, and that row shows a tick and 4 — the machines already in Melbourne. Spare laptop is not in the 4 until you save. Press save at the bottom of actions and it leaves Onboarding and sits under Melbourne. An alert rule or a roll-out on site/Melbourne then covers it. This shot stops before save, so the machine stays in Onboarding. The last step removes the chip. A path that is not in the list yet is typed in the box and confirmed with Enter.
